What is Dalgona Whipped Coffee?

Dalgona coffee is a frothy, whipped coffee drink that originated in South Korea. It’s made by whipping instant coffee, sugar, and hot water until it forms a creamy foam, then spooning it over milk. The result? A sweet and velvety coffee experience that’s as Instagrammable as it is delicious!


Why Dalgona Coffee Became Popular?

When the pandemic hit, people around the world needed a pick-me-up, and Dalgona coffee was just that. Easy to make with pantry staples and visually stunning, it quickly went viral on social media. Plus, it’s super satisfying to watch that coffee foam come to life.


Tips for Making the Best Dalgona Coffee

  • Use Instant Coffee: For the perfect whip, instant coffee is a must. Trust me, ground coffee just won't cut it


  • Equal Ratios: Stick to a 1:1:1 ratio of coffee, sugar, and water. Whip it Good: Use an electric mixer to save time and arm strength. You want stiff peaks, not soft ones!


  • Milk Matters: Pour your whipped coffee over cold or iced milk for a refreshing treat, or hot milk for a cozy drink.


Recipe Ingredients:

Whip Cream:

  • 1 cup heavy (40%) whipping cream

  • 1 packet of Whip It

  • 1 tablespoon sugar

  • Vanilla bean paste​

Whipped Coffee:

  • 2 tablespoons instant coffee

  • 2 tablespoons sugar

  • 2 tablespoons hot water

  • 1 cup of hot chocolate

  • 1 ounce Irish Cream liquor

Recipe Directions:

Our Recipe for Spiked Dalgona Coffee Nudge with Homemade Whipped Cream:

  1. Homemade Whipped Cream: Place heavy whipping cream and Whip It in a mixing bowl. Whip until fluffy peaks.

  2. For the Coffee: Add instant coffee, sugar and water in a small mixing bowl and whip until fluffy. Pour it into coffee mug.

  3. Add the Irish Cream, hot chocolate and a generous dollop of whipped coffee. Top with whipped cream and enjoy!
